The manufacturers have made the necklaces in such a way that each individual bead is tied, so if it were to break, the beads do not come loose to pose a choking hazard - AND - the clasp itself is designed to release if pressure is applied (like getting caught on something). They also have anklets or bracelets as options, so if you were especially concerned your child could wear it elsewhere.
